4 tips for successful recruitment
Hiring the right people is essential to the success of your company. But you need to be sure you have the right candidate for the position, and the right position for the candidate. What if you could predict if this individual would end up playing a key role in your company’s future, such as becoming part of management?
Today we propose four tips from our best headhunters for successful recruitment.
- Ask candidates about their past jobs and plans for the future
A good candidate should be honest with you about past professional experience. During the interview, be sure to ask about previous jobs and training:
- Why did he leave his last job? What part of it did he like, and what could have used some improvement?
- What are his plans for the future? Where does he see himself in 3 to 5 years, for example?
- What is his idea of an ideal boss or work environment?
- Find out about motivations for now and for the future
To determine whether a candidate can be happy in your organization you need to first talk about your company’s culture and values. Ask what inspired him to apply and inquire about his aspirations in the company.
- Assess commitment and skills
Reach out to your new hire during the probation period to get feedback on what he doesn’t like or doesn’t suit him in his duties. Show that you are open-minded about new ideas to enhance effectiveness. Inform him about possibilities for advancement within your company, so he will be able to evaluate which skills he needs to develop to move up. You never know, maybe his professional experience will help your company’s progress in a big way.
Be sure to listen to your team to find out if your new hire is integrating well and communicating good energy to people around him. That way, you’ll have everything you need to properly assess his skills and his commitment.
- Offer challenges
Give him a special assignment to carry out that will give you a chance to test his skills and adaptability. Consider asking coworkers for their comments to contribute to the evaluation.
